Round up

Welcome to the new round up post where we’ll be talking about various news items which you may have missed.

However, it’s not all bad news, with the sign off on the new nuclear power station Hinkley Point being regarded as good news by many.

Mind your fingers

An unfortunate worker in a building surveyors office lost the tips of their fingers in an accident involving a paper shredder. We understand the shredder in question was old and did not comply with modern safety standards. When we look into this further, we uncovered more incidents of shredded fingers from across the pond. You can read all about the horrors of accidents involving paper shredders here.

Health and Safety

Following on from finger safety, we’d like to highlight the continued campaign of ensuring worker safety within the building sector. The UK government are keen to raise awareness of worker safety as lost time due to injury costs the economy.

Homebuilders in particular can be entered for awards such as this one from the NHBC and that helps to raise awareness of safety in the workplace.
